Check out my
new book!
HTML5 Games book
Nihilogic Games is now JavaScript Gaming At some point I'd like the games portal to be able to live on its own and it didn't sit right with me that it was a subdomain of nihilogic.dk. So it now has a new home at http://www.javascriptgaming.com/, check it out. Nothing but the name has changed (yet), though. The games feed is also still the same. Happy friday!

The site still needs some work. Primarily, you need to filter the good stuff from the bad. By default showing the latest games and not even having a filter by rating function will take away focus from the good stuff.

Also I'd ask, being a gaming site, what does three gameless 3D engines do there?

Well, thanks for the feedback. Indeed, it is no where near finished, if there is such a thing as a finished site.

And it's not supposed to be just a directory of games but if it was, I'd agree that projects such as the 3D engines wouldn't fit in. Hopefully it will end up focusing just as much on the underlying technology as on the actual games and in that context, I think a showcase of some neat game-related technology (like a raycaster, 3D engine or whatever) is a lot more interesting than yet another tetris clone or other run of the mill DHTML game.

Good point about the filter by rating. There are a lot of things that should be done in different ways (game ratings are one) and it might require me rebuilding it from scratch on another platform to make it do just what I want it to.

Indeed the 3D engines are interesting, especially for the more techy visitors. But you have already got the blog and the lab for showcasing stuff. With that in mind I'd say it makes a lot more sense for the game section to be the place where you go to have some casual fun, the Javascript way.

It is really a letdown when you think you are going to play some old fashioned Wolfenstein and the soldiers don't shoot back at you. Better state from the start that this is not a game, and noone gets disappointed.

Alright. Sounds like we just have different ideas about what the site should be, then.

This site continues to be my primary resource for proving that JavaScript is a mature technology for crafting arcade games and not just some fancy image rollover nonsense.

Keep up the good work, fella.

Hi hothze,

I did get your email, I just tend to take care of my inbox in batches every few days :-)

As you might have noticed, JavaScriptGaming.com has been horribly neglected the past few months. Once I get back "in the game", I'll make sure to take a look at your game. In the mean time it would be cool if you could find some hosting for it. I might set up some sort of primitive hosting solution at some point, but it's a bit down on the priority list. I have considered a forum as well, but I'm just not sure it's worth the effort.
