Planet #1024 - my JS1K entry
So, the JS1K contest is closed for submissions. The goal was to create something cool in just 1024 bytes (or less) and there have been lots and lots of entries, some of them pretty damn cool. I just had time to submit something before the deadline - a planet generator featuring random zooming, rotating planets, complete with cloud system, shading, atmospheric glow and a star filled background. Check it out here.
Should work in current versions of Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari.

Amazing! I definitely think you'll be one of the winners with this submission.

September 11, 2010 at 5:31 AM Mr.doobI don't think if a planet can move this way, maybe the constant speed rotation could possibly look better, but anyway.
A bit slow in FF, probably because of eval().
Very nice! :)

September 11, 2010 at 10:19 AM NicolasSame here, awesome work! You wouldn't have the unpacked JS code anywhere so I could also learn how it's done... right?
September 11, 2010 at 10:24 AM Jacob SeidelinCheers
Thanks. I wish I could help you Nicolas but it was pretty much handcoded this way for the better part of its development. You can of course replace the eval() with a console.log() to get it somewhat uncompressed, though. And maybe run it through a beautifier.

September 21, 2010 at 7:27 AM JuliaSuperb read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he really purchased me lunch simply because I discovered it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
